Took a walk through the swamp today with my dog.  It was hot and humid but thankfully the bugs weren't bad and I didn't see any snakes.

This is what we call a whale waller.  Pigs like areas like this since they tend to hold water.

My sidekick poses by a cypress tree.

As I came out of the whale waller Eli disappears only to bring a bunch of hogs my way.  Apparantly he disturbed them during their nap and they were none to pleased.  Eli picked this 60 pounder out of the bunch and practiced his herding techniques by healing, heading and just overall antagonizing this poor animal till he decided it was just too hot for this.

A look toward God.

A squirrels view

A visit to the spring.

Pig dog morphs into an otter.

Reflections of the day.

I didn't know that.  Have seen cypress trees in north Georgia but didn't know how far they ranged.  I've heard they make good urban trees since they can tolerate low oxygen around their roots.

Seems the cypress trees came in there after the New Madrid earthquake in the early 1800's.   The land sunk and the Mississippi river ran backwards into the new lower lying areas.

They are beautiful trees and all your pics are gorgeous.  Thanks for sharing them.

Maybe so but I'd give my eye teeth to visit the UK to see all the history you have at your fingertips.  The rock work, the buildings and bridges, the views and the rolling landscape impresses me.  The buzzing of mosquitos sucking your life blood gets old fast.

Superb BB. Though it makes wandering around our Bogs seem a little tame now.
