I've only just cught up with this

I'm so sorry to haer about Holly - you did everything you could for her.

I'm glad that you have had good news about Dolly - I don't think you will get your wish for sunshine and dry ground anytime soon though.

Dolly update:

A year ago yesterday she was diagnosed with a ruptured check ligament and we started the long, slow process of rehabilitation. 12 months later and Dolly (and Victoria) are back up and galloping at full speed.

We have been to dressage, showjumping end eventing competitions and apart from Dolly losing a shoe and throwing the towel in on the hottest day of the year so far, things are going really well.

They have qualified for the next round of the Dengie Pony Club National qualifiers in show jumping and narrowly missed (by 3%) a trip to the PC National Championships in dressage.

Lots of training has gone into Dolly over the last 4 months to make up for the winter off and she has come back much more chilled and rideable, almost like a different horse (until she clears a 1.10m fence with about an extra 40cm on top!!   and then i think "Nope, thats Dolly)

This weekend is our PC Area eventing so fingers crossed it will all go to plan and they will come home smiling.

Claire

Well, it didnt really go to plan!!

Dolly did a fab dressage test to put her in 4th place, went clear showjumping to put her in 1st and then decided she didnt want to go cross country and they ended up retiring!!

I know people will say "Oh well, thats horses for you" but boy do i feel for Victoria as she did everything she could to ride Dolly in a positive way, but the mare just wasnt having it! They got 3/4 of the way round and with 3 stops all ready Victoria just said enoughs enough and retired. (adding 60+ penalties to a dressage of 32.2 isnt going to get a qualification). She did get lovely comments from the dressage just which is a slight consolation.

So its back to the drawing board we go to see if we can find out whats wrong and whether its just a confidence thing on Dollys part, she is in pain or she is just being female and not playing!!

I have a feeling its the first option.

So unfortunately there will be no Pony Club Championships for us this year, but at least we havent got to the "i dont want to do this anymore" stage and by the time we went home Victoria was saying she still loved Dolly and looking what to do to help the mare out.
