a friend was panicking last night as his bitch went into labour, told him to calm down, he asked me to go over which I did had a look and said shes got hours to go aand went home, about 2hrs later another call and hes screaming at me shes had a pup and shes doing nothing, hes almost in tears I can hear his 2 daughters telling him to calm down, anyway I get over there and his dog is trying to get out of the cage hes having asthma attack and theres only 8 people in the room trying to calm him down, so luckily I'm big enough and ugly enough to make myself heard and had to tell them to all ### of out the room and be quiet, I also made Paul(my friend) goto the chinese and get me a chicken fried rice and go and get my pig lamp of another friend that he told me he had picked up the week before he didnt want to go but was forced into it as soon as it was quiet I cleaned the pup , took out all the stupid blankets relined the tray with news paper, made the bitch sniff her own pup which was miracuosly still alive she then slowly started to wash it then got right into it, no probs I thought. But then Paul got back and shes standing there staring it him when all of a sudden the contractions start again and Paul just turns into a wailing old woman and the dog goes absolutely mental trying to get out to him stepping on her pup and making it yelp, I had to tell paul to get out and sure enough as soon as he was gone she settled to the job in hand, anyway eventually we had 5 pups and all was done  Paul comes back in room it all starts again.Had to keep Paul away until 6am to let the bitch bond and everything seems ok now, although he has just rang panicking to say her wee has clots in it.
When I gave Paul this pup she became his life and sits on his lap all the time, sleeps on his bed and he treated her like a human etc and I believe she was imprinted to him and definately suffered from seperation anxiety, I tried to talk him out of breeding her but he wouldnt listen, so then I tried to get him to cage train her and get her used to being left alone for periods, he treated her as a human and she had no rules or goal posts, she really does think she is more importantant than his 2 kids and he used to think it funny if she got irate if anyone went near him well all this has back fired, we all love our dogs, but I think sometimes people are being mentally cruel to the dogs without realising it, simplly by treating them as humans, poor Lilly doesnt know how to be a dog and is struggling to understand what these little things are and would rather be on her Daddies lap on the settee being 'The Boss', I think I can see me insisting she comes here with her pups, watch this space

good luck Darren, i know what you mean about people treating them like humans...it is sad as it is always the dog that suffers in the end!!

she is still vexed when he goes into the utility room and gets straight of her pups, I cant believe either that a 42 yr old man has been in tears several times today over his poor Lilly, this is a man that I stood on doors with week in week out battering shisters and stag parties with, hes turned into a complete wreck

Well if you don't get them away from him chances are he will end up with 6 dogs ruling the roost a very unhealthy situation.

I'm glad that she is looking after them now - how many visits have you had from Paul so far?
