Its a job that I've been putting off for months and months. I quite like moles but we seem to have one or two too many at the moment.

I think I've got about half a dozen traps out the many I used to have when I trpped them as part of my pest control business. I'll have to root them out and get them dusted off today. I havent been able to set them this week, because I've been creosoting chicken sheds and the smell has been on my hands.
I don't know about the moles detecting the scent but I've actually been having to sleep with my hands under the bed clothes.

Bodger; if you want top quality traps, that can be used straight out of the box with no 'tweaking' or weathering, try the flat pack co.

https://www.theflatpack.co.uk/merchantmanager/index.php?cPath=3

I use these traps exclusively now, running 150+ traps at a time.

The price is sensible too ;)

Hardly one small step for man and certainly not one giant leap for mankind but I caught the mole this morning thats been terrorising our back garden.
It was a bit unusual though, in as much as the animal was still alive and kicking. The trap had caught it by the front paddle. I've caught a few hundred moles in my time, but this is the first time that its happened.

The front appendages of a mole look like paddles. They use them to paddle the soil out of their way.

As a one time pest controller, I used to make part of my living catching them, so it would be a bit of an embarressment actually employing someone else but thanks all the same.
