For the first time I went on a Thames river trip from Reading to Henley the day before the regatta started. Here are some photos I took.
Almost expected to see Ratty and Mole appear in a little boat.
Lots of Canada Geese everywhere but I didn't see the Heron on the left until I downloaded the pics.
The locks were quite attractive with flower borders and hanging baskets. This is Sonning Lock.
There were several large houses with lawns down to the river in the vicinity of Wargrave.
Possible this steam launch belonged in one of those houses.
Henley Bridge. Regatta preparations cab be seen through the arches.
Don't suppose they get many traction engines over the bridge nowadays.
Some of the rowers boathouse marquees.
And some of the rowers practising.
