I was just wondering if i am the only one who is having poor luck , or worse no luck . I have not been out to much this season but when i have its been poor fishing , i suppose i am not the best fisherman in Scotland ( i only really fish because i enjoy a trout ) but after nearly 60 years doing it i can usually manage a few , but each year just seems harder to find them ?

Well bad luck- last night I took my fishing buddy (grand daughter) down to the brook plopped in a worm and a few minutes later she had a bite- very excitedly she started to reel in stepping forward onto grass which gave way - she ended up waist deep in the pool and the trout got away. Dampened her spirits a bit.

i went fishing on saturday with my daughter who is keen on the fly fishing, she seems to get a lot of pleasure from it , unlike me who always wants to put something in the pot .but on Saturday i relented and fished with dry fly all afternoon , caught the same as i did the week before when using docken grub = zero, ah well there is always tomorrow   , im going back for another go tomorrow , watch this space .

I've been catching lots of coarse fish over the last few weeks, which I don't eat but let go and this season, the mackerel shoals just haven't turned up in their usual numbers. The words and phrases commercial and over fishing spring to mind.
