A few years ago our old horse Bella sat on my trusty home made fox trap and as you can imagine, it didn't do it a lot of good.
Just over twelve months ago I bought a replacement for it off the internet but its proven to be rubbish. It was the right length but the rest of the dimensions were way too small and in spite of there being loads of foxes mooching around my chicken pens I haven't caught a one.
That was until this morning.
We moved the trap three days ago to a new spot ago right up alongside one of my big poultry runs. At just after 6.00am, I thought that I might be in business, when I could hear the crows and magpies scolding something. I quickly donned my wellies and dressing gown and went up to the poultry field to have a look see. This is what I saw.
It was only a cub, which says a lot about the trap. What it does mean however, is that I've probably got another three or four to account for. It would be nice if I could persuade mum to go in as well but I'm not holding my breath.
A quick look at Bella RIP. We loved that horse even though she always damaged fences and fox traps.
