Got some Indian Game, Blue Laced Wyndotte bantams and Sasso x Marans due to hatch Thursday.

Well ones pipped already!
Don't know about you but I find the early starters, rarely finish.

I haven't noticed that Dave but what I do find is that the hatch ends up taking place over a number of days instead of the eggs hatching in the space of about 24 hours. Its a bit of a pain to have one or two chicks out in the incubator messing the other eggs about, so I often end up putting the early birds in another incubator or straight under a lamp.

I usually put early hatchers under a lamp straight away, they don't seem to come to any harm and the others soon catch up.

I have an old, still air incubator which I put the early chicks in before they go to their new "Quarters". It seems to work well.
I do sometimes wonder though if having a few chicks clambering around on the unhatched eggs might spur them on to get on with hatching.
