We've been to Ironbridge quite a few times over the years, we really do like the area. At long last, we've dropped on a couple who'll babysit our house and livestock for us, so we're going to make a break from our almost hermit like  life and have a few away days while we can.
Now that the school holidays are over, there are some good bargains to be had out there and we think we've dropped on one. We've booked a two bedroomed cottage self catering  for a couple of nights on the banks of the River Severn. Its situated just quarter of a mile from the famous bridge at Ironbridge. Best of all, while were umming and arghing  as to whether or not to press the button to book, blow me down if the price didn't go down by 25%. I love a bargain, don't you? So we're off on our travels at the end of this month.
We'll obviously go around the Blist Hill museums again and we might go to Acton Scott while we're in the area. If you recall, I told you that the farm might be closing, so this could be my last ever visit.

Have a great break - and don't forget to scoff a few Eley's Pork Pies:

Karen and I have always loved getting out and about but we've had our wings seriously clipped in the last couple of years since the kids left home, so we intend making up for lost time.
We've been to Ironbridge a few times and I know that we'll enjoy our weekend to the full but we are also looking for other weekend breaks. I'm not that fussed about city breaks abroad and the like, what we're looking for are new interesting destinations. Somewhere with a bit of history and character and places to visit. You should all know me by now and the sort of stuff that I like, so any suggestions will be seriously looked at.

And our next trip will be ?
On my birthday in October when first of all on the Monday we're both going to the dentist in Penrhyndeudraeth. That will be a thrill but it will also put us twenty odd miles closer to Brecon, which is where our eldest son lives and so rather than go back home, we're going to travel on and spend a couple of nights in the area.
Its down to me now to sort out accommodation and what we're going to do with ourselves by way of entertainment. Amongst other things, a good long walk along the Brecon canal beckons.

On your way to Brecon stop off at Powis Castle in Welshpool if you've not already seen it. The gardens and the castle are well worth a mosey round.

I love a good castle.

As long as our house sitters stick with us, then we have some good breaks lined up. We've both said that we fancy having a proper holiday next year, perhaps a second visit back to Alderney. We really liked it there, it was our sort of place.
