I'm giving up on these.
I live in an overcast lush green bit of the world, but it's sodden wet, and we have very low light levels much of the year.
Ordinary crocus do fine, but the saffron ones are just now starting to try to come up and we're too cold, damp and dull for them. In all the years I've grown them I have had less than a handful of flowers.
I've just dug up the pots and what began as 16 bulbs in these two is now something like 250
I have friends down south who will take some of them, but would anyone here like some of the little ones that will need a year to come on before there's hope they might flower?
They're all healthy, seem to be disease free, need to go in now, and are just starting to shoot.
I'll happily put a mix of sizes into any that I send though so that you might get something this time round too.

They need well drained soil, they need warm soil for some of the year but don't mind hard dry-ish cold in Winter, and they really need a sunny site.
Not a hope of that here I'm afraid.

Delighted to pass a batch along
Pm me your name and address please ?
I'll keep them cool and damp in peat until Monday and I'll post them then so they should come straight down to you.

Happy to pass along another three batches of these bulbs. They were bought as ones to produce good quality edible stamens. It's only because they've never flowered in my cold wet soil that I'm passing them along.
If you have a sunny space with well drained soil, they ought to do well.
I thought I'd get away with them in tubs, but even that doesn't help the mostly overcast skies around here.
There's a reason we're all fair skinned    with a lot of red in our hair.

Not at all I'm afraid. I did give it some time to work it's way through the ether too.

Maybe we need to pester Bodger, if he's done counting piggies

I posted a bagfull to you today. There's a wide range of sizes, but they're from high grade saffron crocus' so should come good in due course.
I packed the bag with extra peat, so we'll hope the postmen are in good form and the bulbs come through fine.

cheers,
M
