I have half a dozen Fenn traps set permanently in artificial tunnels around the farmyard. They catch rats and give me an indication as to whether or not there are any about.
This morning I caught my first one in at least six months and now that I know there are some about, I'll be getting the rat poison down ASAP. As I say, having the traps down is a useful indicator, so that any problems can be stopped before they can get a grip.

John watch out  leaving any spring trap set permanently will WEAKEN the springs, and can cause foul catches etc

Hi Bry. I set them off and reset fairly regularly but having them set in tunnels has saved me quite a bit of grief over the years.
Some time ago, I had some set right up against my main chicken shed and caught two polecats within a yard of my chickens.
