Expect lots of stupid questions from me, we've just bought a house and 4 acres in rural South Yorkshire, with the intention of keeping some animals. We've also got a decent sized poly tunnel, so will be trying to grow some tasty stuff too.

I'm in my mid 40's and have spent years travelling a lot for work, I'm getting a bit fed up of that now, so want to slow down and enjoy being at home more.

I shoot, and we have two Spinone, but they don't work, they're happier at home snoozing.

Speak to you all soon!

Hello Jon. They let you in as well then?
Surprised you have time to be online with all that work to do. How's the poly tunnel apart from hot?

Best thing to do, Mo.
Either that or emigrate to Devon via Co. Durham like I did.

South Yorkshire isn't too bad if you ignore some of the bad bits; and I lived on the edge near Derbyshire so had an easy escape.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Sorry for the delay in replying, we moved 4 weeks ago, but had a 2 week holiday booked, which we've just got back from, terrible timing, but we booked it a year ago.

We intend to start with chickens for eggs, and experiment with a few different breeds of chickens for the table. Pigs and sheep are on the cards for the future too. For now though, it's the polytunnel that's going to be getting most of our attention, just need to work out what is, and isn't worth planting St this time of year.
