Kaz and I spent a very pleasant hour or so at this place.

Here are the photos that we took. If you're ever in the area its well worth dropping in.

One of the two mill pools holding the water that powers the mill. The present mill dates back to the  17th century.

This feeder takes the water from the top pool down to the bottom. The viaduct in the background runs almost but not quite over the mill. Its appeared in several films including one of the Harry Potters and The Thirty Nine Steps.

Just beneath the top pool, we have this building. Its all thats left of a medieval flour mill. The owner of the mill hopes to one day see it restored.
Flour has been ground on this site for many centuries.

Here are a few pictures of the gubbins and display in the main mill.

We had a really good visit and several cups of tea with this  chap who helped make the mill come to life for us by simply switching the water on and off for us and getting that huge wheeel turning for us. I want this bread oven.

Looks fantastic, don't know how I missed the post first time round!
Chloe (10YO daughter) and me went to very different water powered place yesterday (return visit to one of our favourite museums) http://www.simt.co.uk/abbeydale-industrial-hamlet where they probably made the scythes that cut the corn for your mill!
