I am not really a good flower gardener so my favourite book has to be Food From Your Garden from the Readers Digest. Everything you need to know about the veggies you are planning on growing is in one place, so no searching through the book season by season to look for what needs to be done through out the year.
I like Joy Larkcoms "Vegetable Garden Displayed." a R.H.S. book now out of print. I believe her oriental veg book which is also excellent has been reprinted. The Hessayon veg and fruit books have clear instructions and illustrations, the best place for gardening books are car boots imho. I've built up a great "library" for peanuts. Last weekend I got an old book about planting an orchard and another about cider apples and making cider for 10p. each. _________________ "When you get to the end of your rope tie a knot and hang on."
