due to a swarm of bees doing their thing over my front lawn...

Went out to garage to find screws and thought thats a strange noise, came out, looked up.....and bugger me...then made a sharpish but not running dash for the house...

We dont think they are from our 2 hives but when things settle down a bit we will go and look. Apparantly there is a chap down the road who keeps bees he has been phoning up the bee assocaiation and saying, my bees are creating queen cells what shall I do....

Trouble is we think they might have decided that the 60ft beech tree is a good place to rest....and we can't reach them.

Sorry about the bad piccies but they are rather high up in the beach tree and were buzzing around rather a lot too. Bit disconcerting to be honest. We now have 2 bait hives set up. Lets hope they choose one or the other as there new home. Lets see what the morning brings.

Still up the bdooly tree! Weather dank and has been drizzly but drying out now....so maybe they might start to think about moving from their temporary home.

Reminds me of when I was pregnant with my first daughter.  I was sitting in the garden of my in-laws' house concentrating on knitting when I became aware of a gradually increasing droning noise.  I looked up and found I was in the middle of a swarm of bees heading for the tree I was sitting under.  Slow and careful exit to the house was called for!

My father in-law called a friend who kept bees, and he came and collected the swarm, but this got my FIL thinking....... and within a year we were drinking his home produced mead.

Hope you are able to leave the house before your food supplies run out, Barbie!

I was going to say what we were still barricaded in as the thought of a food parcel from OTG'ers sounded rather nice.....then I read 12Bores contribution......so I think I will pass.

The critters left about 20 minutes ago, they didnt like our bait hives and have buggered off to hives a new...

As they where leaving we got a call from a friend who was out further down the lane who said "bees have gone then".... they were apparently flying over his sheep field and had even ignored his bait hives too.

No accounting for taste is there.....
