Smile, be polite, and treat every customer (however small an enquiry or purchase) as the most important person in the world. Never answer your mobile while serving ........infact switch it off for the day. ...... I have walked away from the fruit & veg stall 3/4 of the way through an order because they answered their phone and began ignoring me.

Make sure you'ved a good supply of change - nothing worse than losing a sale because you've run out of pound coins etc. Also get one of those marker thingies to check if you've been given a dud note - it's amazing how many there are about!

Good luck - you'll enjoy it.

Take somone sensible with you (so you can go for a pee).
Be prepared for the weather.....
Take a folding chair....and comfy shoes.

Print some small cards with your details, slip every customer one.

I think that Lorraines advice was a mere slip of the tongue. RIP Frankie Howard.

make sure you pass all local bylaws etc, other stallholders can be odd at first,(been there).get market traders insurance (cheap) it covers public liability, dont take advice from people who have never been mkt traders they know nothing!

Tasters....I always go to the stalls that let me have a wee taster before I buy.

Good luck with it all. I hope you have fun and it is a success.
