The forum has some private sections. This means that people have to become members in order to view Them. Not all forums are suitable or to everyone's liking and we accept that some people will choose not to post after joining.

The forum was started by a group of friends in February 2007 and from the very outset has aimed to be both friendly and informative. We hope that new members will like what they see and will decide to become fully participating members and contribute to the forum.

So that we can maintain a realistic membership list we have started to delete new members who have decided not to make their first post within a month of joining. We feel that if members have not posted in their first month, then they have decided that the forum is not for them.

New members are made aware of this by e-mail upon joining.  Over the next few months we will also be deleting earlier members who are zero posters. This policy does not prevent members from rejoining at any time.

Thanks to everyone who has helped to make OTG what it is today.

Can I ask something Kaz? Quite a few of your forums are open for public viewing, I could see them before I joined. Will they be made private?

Thanks.

Good idea Kaz.

Those who don't post have obviously decided not to for their own reasons.

OTG is an active forum anyway.

Certainly not all the sections. With regard to forum security, a private forum is no safer than a public  one.
The  suggestion that a forum is safer because its only open to members creates a false impression. Its suggests that membership somehow guarentees that that a forum member is a 'good egg' and this is plainly not always the case.
What is required on all forums is a modicum of common sense. You obviously don't put anything on the open forum that puts your own aninimity or safety at risk.
As far as making all the sections on OTG closed, this is something that we are very unlikely to do in the future. By leaving most of the sections open, new members are able to see what they are buying into. You obviously liked what you saw and  people are not usually very keen on 'buying a pig in a poke'

Hi Kaz, I just joined.
I wanted to know if it is OK to mention other sites I find useful ie Woodworking, Tool Evaluation blog, discount/one day only sites?

The reason I ask, is that many of my favorite every-day-visit sites I learned about from other forums.

I don't know about admin but I certainly don't see any problem at all with that Anunnaki.  BTW - welcome to OTG.

Hi Anunnaki

You'd be better off posting these links in a more appropriate place I think so that they get seen by other members?

There's plenty of sections on here - have a look through and post them where you think they'll fit best
