This year, the beneficiary of OTG's fund raising is going to be cancer research. In addition to our annual OTG calendar sales, which raises a goodly amount each year, we are also looking to extend  the forums activities.
We plan to purchase a hundred jute shopping bags with a suitable OTG logo printed on them.
We need  the best of both worlds, in as much as we require good quality but with a reasonable price. The price needs to be kept as low as possible  because they will be sold with as hefty a chunk of the selling price going to the nominated charity.
I've already trawled the internet but its all a little confusing.
Help with Googling etc would be much appreciated.

We would be happy to look at any other practical suggestions and fund raising ideas.

Some more caps and beanie hats would be nice; both of mine are beginning to look a bit tatty due to me wearing either one or the other almost constantly when I am out and about.

I'll donate 100 glossy "Overthegate.com" bumper stickers and post them to you, when I next put in a bulk stock order for Cargo Cycles stickers (probably next month). I sure members would not be-grudge a £1 charitable donation for each sticker.

We've had some samples sent to us this morning from a company that sell jute  and cotton bags and aprons. Unfortunately, we 've come up against a bit of a dead end when it comes to cost.

With single sided printing with an OTG logo, with carriage plus VAT on a quantity of a hundred items the cost to us per item would be £2.76.
At first, this didn't seem to bad but we quickly realised that by the time we've added a quid to make money for our nominated charity and after we'd covered Paypal and delivery charges to individual members, nobody is going to fork out that sort of money for a bag that anyone can buy from Tesco for two pounds.

Its back to the drawing board I'm afraid but don't worry, we'll come up with something eventually ? Anyone else got any ideas ?

I think that we have the bumper sticker angle covered: we just need to agree a background colour. http://overthegate.myfreeforum.org/about23899.html

I am working on a rather special reclaimed pallet wood project that I'll have finished in mid July, which I am certain will generate a few Oooo's & aahhs and I want one of those for the garden. I am prepared to show only the Step-by-step photos in the subsequent thread and to produce a full set of PDF downloadable plans, that could be only obtained by by a confirmed donation of say 50p or £1. However, these plans will include a none commercial copyright and licence to make only one per set of plans issued. That would protect my rights as the original designer, and would directly help generate donations for the nominated charity.

I suggested to Kaz that maybe we could ask any knitters to donate Beanie Hats knitted from 'stash wool'.
I'm not sure how many knitters we have though and colours would be Pot Luck.  We could use a common pattern though.
I stumbled on the embroidering of the logo.
It could be possible to knit OTG into the beanie though, I think?

I also floated knitted egg cosies as an idea.

Kaz - I can't remember if you wanted me to C&P, sorry

You know me, I would be happy to knit them but as you say, the logo would be a problem

These are the beanies and caps that we had for sale a couple of years back. We bought the hats and someone sewed the logos on for us but wasn't able to continue to supply us   We could do with finding someone with a machine that would do them again

You could get in touch with this lady:

http://www.personalisedonline.co.uk/

Her name is Debbie Hack and she does embroidered personalised products.  She does a lot of work for charity too and her rates are very competetive.  She might know of how to get hold of the things to put the logos on at wholesale prices or something like that - you'd have to ask her.

Tell her Polly's told you about her and ask if there's anyway she can help you get your items done at a good price.

Gareth, was it you that had some silk screen printing equipment?  I was wondering if you could use it to print on the little canvas bags maybe?  They do actually sell job lots of them on Ebay too.

I've been in touch with your lady Polly and she's been very helpful. She's going to get back to me in the next few days with some embroidered designs. I'll post some pictures for everyone to have a look at when I get them.
