Hi,
A few years back one Richard Bacon was founder member of Falchion Fight Display Team but I believe he is no longer involved with current Team Falchion. Re-enactment Groups tend to evolve and change over time! I may have a phone number for him if you are intereested?
Bodelwyddan Medieval Festival 2009 will be just the August 8th & 9th show, recession etc., hurts everything.
Details (still sketchy at this time of year) www.medieval-fayre.co.uk
My only other show this year will be the East Anglian Medieval Festival, September 12th & 13th at Skylark Showground, Wimblington, March, Cambs PE15 0PE.
Though I shall still be running the market side of things for the Cressing Temple St George's Joust, April 18th 19th at CT near Braintree, Essex. Tollsbottom are doing the Bar, Pilsbury is trading with his superb dried mushroom snacks.
Best wishes

Bodelwyddan Medieval Festival 2009 getting closer now - looks like another cracking show, some interesting new caterers, same brilliant Beer Tent.
This year the family have decided to accompany me from the start. They have not volunteered to do any of the bloody work, just thinking it's a cheap holiday rather than just coming up for the show.
So a mixed blessing, with twin tantrums guaranteed, and much tutting over the alcohol consumption.
Best wishes

The only horses I know about are being provided by Demelza and John Tremelling of Horses THrough History, plus the Falconer John Islwyn Jones is threatening to have a horse as part of his routine this year.
Good news, Pilsbury, look forward to sampling your wares in the Beer Tent!
And I'm waiting on final confirmation of a Paranormal Investigation by Southern Paranormal Society to run in conjunction with the event, private free "Ghost Hunt" for participants on the Friday night, paid for do dah for the public on the Saturday night.
Best wishes

As it currently stands we are expecting a record number of re-enactment groups to be represented at the Festival this year. No guarantees on actual numbers of re-enactors is possible due to the voluntary nature of the hobby. The group may be very professional, but the membership are all volunteers as if were, and may be on holiday or have other commitments. For example, Myk from the Hussites has to go to a family wedding, which he is not that pleased about, but he is sending as many of his group along as are available.
So we have folk from:
God's Company of Tabor
The Marcher Freemen
The Montgomeryshire Levy
The Freemen of Gwent
The Sons of the Dragon
The Cardiff Castle Garrison
Cu Glas (from Ireland)
Freemen and Knights
Milwr Morganwr
Companions of the Crow
Fight Team Falchion
The Knights of Skirbeck
The Lord Thomas Stanley Retinue
The Poor Knights of St Dysmas
The British Plate Armour Society
Devon Medieval Combat Society
Finnsholm
The Conyers
The Fauconbergs
The Companions of The Black Serpent
Horses Through History
We hope to have a few more confirm soon, but that looks like a pretty good line up!
Best wishes

So David, as someone who is independant from most groups but knows them al who should I be looking at joining?
I want to be a 13th century archer, south east area and that is about all the demands I have, most have recommended the MSS so far but looking for other options.
PS picking up our traders tent from Steve at Acient battle crafts tomorrow and still packing stock but really looking forward to this. _________________ Never trust a skinny chef

If Pil's can be an Archer, any vacancies for a Walter Gabrial?
My next door neighbour's son is involved with a Battle of Waterloo Group and he spends a fortune on his kit, plus all the travelling expenses and other costs. It aint a cheap hobby but he and his comrades put heart and soul into it. _________________ Still at the Bar, still on me own, still moaning and still a miserable Old Git.

Hi Pilsbury,
The MSS are excellent, and as you probably know are arranged in various "houses" within the umbrella group. However, they are primarily War Of The Roses based, which is a bit later than 13th century.
For that era, consider Knights of Honour, http://www.knightsofhonour.info/index.html nice friendly bunch run by benign dictator Paul "Blackie" Black, now up to around 40 members and based East Anglia.
They won't be at Bodelwyddan but will be at East Anglian Medieval Fayre at March in September.
Bazzer, it's pretty much like any hobby, you get a lot out if you put a lot in!
Best wishes
