I nver kill chickens this way..

women have shorter arms than men, and find it harder, especially with bigger, older birds to have the strength.

I always use a metal bar over the neck - broomstick method - buta broomstick is too wide.

Place chicken face down on levelsurface, holding onto legs.
Place bar over neck at bottom of skull.  (there is a little indentation - bar should fall neatly into place).
Place left foot onto bar (this is the point of no return) and prepare.
Place right foot onto bar and with a clean determined motion (jerk) pull chicken up and slightly forward.
You should feel the neck 'go' and the chicken may flap immediately or take a moment or two(this is reaction).

I keep the chicken in this position until the flapping stops.

Also good for ducks (did 2 today).  havnt tried it with geese - would imagine it harder.
