....or maybe he thought they were crappie and sole(d) them, taking the proceeds to the Swordfish pub to sample a bass with John Dory, but Jack Dempsey gave him a loosejaw and a shiner.
He then retried back to his plaice and ate a bowl of pumpkinseed.

He's probably busy taking his Norfolk pictures; making snap decisions.
Best to hold the line but give some slack, maybe.
