We had a hard frost last night so think it will be a while before the swallows make it up here.
Shaved the Spaniel over the weekend and the birds were going crazy over the hair clippings, ha.

Don't worry it's certainly not for cosmetic reasons.
Maybe pet dogs that are pampered & brushed every day can get away with it or working dogs that sit idle out of season, but Mine work all year round, I was out shooting rabbits last weekend and she nearly collapsed with heat.
Her coat is so thick this time of year that these early warm days are quite dangerous for her as she still quarters at full speed.
I also shave her in August when the grouse starts as it's still warm on the fells that time of year.
