My dad was a Cooper.  Those barrels were ideal for sawing on.

Ah, that's the reason.
Thanks

Here's a sign that spring isn't far away.
I was walking Biscuit back home from a recent trip to the town.
We were ambling, as you do, along Mr Beechings path and I rested on a bench, as I do, and Biscuit was scampering and sniffing (and peeing) about, as she does.
I heard a tweeting. I looked everywhere but couldn't locate the source.
Up, left, far left, far right, everywhere.
I'd just given up and stared straight ahead and blow me - there it was. Such a sweet sound. It made me smile and thankful that I wasn't blind - or deaf.

Here are a few wayside flowers - they are in a grass verge embankment but looked so nice.

Here's Mrs Blackbird in a broody moment

Sadly, after laying and hatching four eggs the fledglings were not to be seen other than a few feathers about 12 days after the shot was taken.
Very sad.

On a more pleasant note, this cheered me up.
