About 3 years ago I was a member of a gardening group when someone put a letter in asking if wives or partners helped. Then continued until I had finished but instead of clicking file I clicked the back arrow & lost it all. I then went to documents & found that had not been saved.

I decided to cut the original copy into pieces & scan them that should wor

Can anyone tell me why some of my photos won't come up?
It was of the prefab & bubble car. The problem is with this Forum.

In the story I forgot to mention that at work I would search on the engines for a lump of coal 12"x 9"x3" thick that I could put on the fire when we went to bed in the hope that the fire would stay in all night.

One morning I got up for the early shift & scraped my face on some nappies that were hanging on a line close to the fire to dry. They were frozen solid & the inside of the steel door was covered in white frost although the fire was still burning. We were fortunate in having a mains gas stove, before going to bed we made sure the kettle was full because we had to trickle hot water round the steel door frame to open the door, this lasted for 3 months.

The tap in the kitchen didn't freeze & in the inside toilet I hung an old miners lamp on the supply pipe which had been frozen & soldered by a previous tenant.

Great reading Ewal, please keep writing.
I remember the winters of 62-63 only too well, as I started work in 64.
Back then my parents were lucky as they managed to rent a "modern" 3 bed house from the council, coal fire and gas for  cooking. We still had heavy ice on the inside of the bedroom windows, even with such mod cons...
Aunt and Uncle lived in a prefab, gas fire and if memory serves a fridge run off gas also.
Keep the pages coming...many thanks
