That is sad, but you were with him till the end, and he had the best of lives. Think of him running free now, and enjoy your happy memories - they will overcome the sadness in time. There is always such a big hole in our lives when we lose one of our four legged friends, but time will help.

Thanks folks.
Well, we got Jake's ashes back today, so some day soon we will scatter or inter them in the family grave.
Don't know what the council would say about that, but the plot is bought and paid for, and  there are 5 generations of the Jakey family in that grave, so thats where the old lad is going....back with his family.

That's lovely - where he should be. I had a former colleague who had a dog which died shortly before he did. The dog's ashes were saved and buried in the same grave as his master when the time came. They belonged together.

Great idea, we have two places outside our bedroom window one side of drive for dogs and house side for cats under trees
