I would imagine that a cup of all bran would actually be heavier/more dense than bran flakes but I have never tried - I always use all bran.
Just use a standard cup/mug out of your cupboard and the measurements will all be in proportion

just happen to have the bottom of a packet of Bran Flakes left and some over ripe bananas - do you think it might work?

I occasionally add some nuts into the mix (reducing the fruit content) and a tablespoon of malt extract or treacle makes for a tasty change too

I regularly make an all bran cake in the same way as Kaz and am lucky if it manages to go cold before it disappears down my families throats. My mum used to make it and we could never wait for it to go cold before devouring it

I always make 3 at a time - one while it is hot, one when it has cooled and hopefully one manages to get to the freezer

I made this cake years ago when my Nan gave me the recipe for it and it's LOVELY!  I'm so glad you posted it Kaz cos I've been trying to remember it - I know it's not much to remember but I forget my own name some days!

Sitting at the breakfast table this morning and Kaz has received a text from our youngest asking her to send him this recipe. A quick search and hey presto!

I made one only last week for visitors - glace cherry and walnut. They loved it. The flavouring in mine changes each time I make it - depending on what's in tbe larder cupboard but I never add the full amount of sugar. It's one of my most often baked and most often requested by friends/colleagues. I reckon I make at least one every couple of weeks.
