What you selling your eggs for?

Well I sell my eating eggs at the gate for 1.50 for half dozen (1.00 for neighbours and friends) or 2.50 a dozen.

But since the lockdown my feed bill seems to have doubled!

What you selling them for?
brewer66

Hen eggs 2.50 per doz
Poulet eggs 1.80 per doz
Duck eggs 3.00 per doz

Just need the customers that stopped coming in December because I had no eggs to come back again.
I told them that as soon as the days started to lengthen the birds would come back into lay but they don't listen.

I know what you mean, my hybrids have kept me in eggs this year and the pure breeds look to be kicking in now.

Have you found your food bill has gone up since the lockdown?
brewer66

Considerably and bedding too.

Hens and ducks both 2.50 a doz. but the feed bill is astronomical at the moment. Virtually double!
bodger

Two and a half quid a dozen  chicken eggs and three quid for duck. A quid each for goose eggs.

Seems like we are all in the same boat !

My Geese haven't started laying yet but last year I sold the eggs as fast as they could lay them for 1.25 each.

They're 4.50 for a tray of 30 eggs locally.

Free range?
midlandsman

Yep, they wander all over the farmyard. However, I think that the chickens are just a bit of a hobby, like the turkeys that they do for Christmas. Their main income comes from their core farming activities. They're a good sized operation; around 1000 acres in total on 3 or 4 sites.

Those prices are amazingly cheap. I don't make anything like a profit on my poultry. The money that I get for my eggs just helps to defray the shock of the corn bills in their entirety.

1 a half  dozen, some big   some small , its the same folk all the time so they dont bother if sometimes they get a couple of bantam eggs in the box .
polaris

Hmm, free range eggs up here in the Highlands are very expensive.
Quail - 4 a dozen
Chooks - 2 a 1/2 dozen
Ducks - 3 a 1/2 dozen
