We've come along way!

On this day in 1882 a draper’s shop, Coxon & Company, a company based in  Newcastle-upon-Tyne, became the first shop in the world to be lit by incandescent electric light. It used Swan lamps.
Its amazing, when you consider just how far we've come in such a short time   Microwave cookers and computers are old hat now and we live in a world where just about anything seems possible.I think that in some ways our so called technological advances are frightening.who remembers waiting for those goldfish bowl sized televisions to warm up and watching the white dot ?  I bet those people back in the 18880's never saw the day coming when their modern gas lights and oil lamps would become redundant.

If you think how slowly things seem to have developed over the centuries, it makes you wonder where this recent snowballing of technology has suddenly come from. The truth is out there?
