we have our first chickens!

This Friday we got our first trio of pullets 😀😀😀 they are around 12 weeks old , give or take.
My partner spent a good couple of days converting a 1/3 of one of our sheds into the hen house and made a run.
We raked together as much wood and nails, screws, chicken wire etc as we could find laying around and ended up spending no more than a fiver on the whole lot ,( not including the chooks,)
We had intended on buying a fancy premade set up. So pleased we didn't.

We were supposed to get another trio of pols at the same time but we've been let down 😢😢 which is a shame for the children as they were very excited for eggs , so we'll have to look elsewhere to complete our flock.

Just thought I'd share our news ☺

That's brilliant news, there'll be no looking back now and I think its great that you've gone down the DIY route when it come to chicken accommodation.
You'll be hooked now and I, amongst others on here will only be too pleased to give you any help and advice you might need on your journey towards poultry addiction.  Just wait until the day you get that very first egg.

And then there's hatching your own chicks, that's something I never tire of. I get the same buzz of anticipation every year. I find waiting to see just how many chicks are hiding under a broody much more exciting than an incubator.

It could be me or another member might be able to help you out with some pol.

Well done on the pullets

And like bodger said, you just Waite until you get your first egg

Rena & Bodger, I remember the excitement of years ago when we kept chickens and when I was a child.
Finding the first egg seriously rivals Christmas!
