Water Voles?

Just like you, I thought that we'd turned some sort of corner in the  conservation of these beautiful animals but apparently, they may still be on the decline.

Its very sad that these once very common animals have all but disappeared.

Where I live Bodge we have a good population right in the centre of town ! The authorities have re-routed a local beck to try and take them away from local houses. Most people think they are rats (which is possibly a good thing) and give them a wide berth.
Its quite hard to believe that such a population exists in such a place.

When we had the bloke out to see about a grant for tree planting he told us our ditch, which is the beginnings of a stream, was a "potential" water vole habitat. Never seen one though.
