Trail cam?

The kids are nagging me to choose a Christmas present for myself, so I was thinking that I might quite like a trailcam. Has anyone used one, or is there a particular make or model that you could recommend? I know that they are pretty pricey, but maybe all four of them could chip in for the old man.

Bodg i got 1 from Lidi, Bresser Motion cam very good as well, think i only paid 69  something.

There are lots out there to choose from depending on what you want it for and of course price.

Click on the link this shows a lot of different models etc http://www.thomasjacks.co.uk/spypoint/   I can supply these as well  if needed with   a discount of course

What wildlife are you hoping to capture like bodger?
bodger

I saw badger prints in the mud not so far from my chicken pens the other morning. We get foxes and rabbits but we don't have deer within forty to fifty miles of us.

Oh these are great fun!! We borrowed a friend's to see if we could find out what our poultry predator was-pretty sure a mink. It worked fantastically-I got loads of short videos of my lunatic Labradors tearing around all over the place and one of a pair of Greylags waddling past!!
bodger

The camera that I said that I was going to get? My daughters had a look at it and she says that it doesn't have the best of write ups, so I'm still undecided as to which one to send for.
bodger

I've ended up with a Bushnell trophy Cam. I hope its going to be OK, its being delivered tomorrow.
bodger

I doubt that I will be lucky enough to capture one of these though.

Which reminds me that I must plant some more reeds around our garden pond.
Dave C

But how good would that be
bodger

Well fingers crossed. I was allowed to officially open my Christmas present and just a few minutes ago I set the trail cam up in one of our field gateways. I can't wait to see what if anything the morning brings. My best bet would be on a load of cats but at any rate, it will be interesting to see if we've set it at the right height.
bodger

Not quite a blank but almost. I got this one last night.

and when I let the ducks out this morning, one of the ducks got to the camera before I did.

I'm going to have great fun with this little gizmo.

Looking forward to it
bodger

I've just repositioned the camera so its watching a fox or badger run through one of our hedges.
sod

great fun ahead I can see
bodger

I got this at picture 8.40am this morning.

but just a few hours earlier, this b*****d passed the same fence post on its way towards my chickens.

I've had a fiddle with the camera settings to see if I can get some clearer pictures.
bodger

I'll get a decent one of him eventually. I got this one in our garden during the early hours this morning.

Time for an evening on the lamp me thinks

Maybe you could knock up a few hay racks for inside the stables, then he wouldn't have to stuff haynets.
bodger

Fingers crossed that I might get some good pictures tonight. I've put a dead chicken out in the fields with the trail cam trained on it.
bodger

My best picture to date. I put a dead chicken out last night and trained the camera on it. I thought that I might be in luck when I fetched the trail cam in this morning. The chicken was gone.

I'll have to dust my fox trap off.
mrs tiggywinkle

Well done Bodger...your patience paid off. Good photo
bodger

Karen's chuffed to bits. I've had two Maran cockerels in their feathers frozen in the freezer for the last two years for just such an event. One of them has left its home and is now residing in the fox trap.
sod

Well done all the best with the trap. Glad they never brought foxes out to here!
12Bore

Best of luck with the trap.
bodger

Last nights chicken was a bit stinky and as tonights offering is still frozen, it may very well take a day or three. Its tricky to tell from the photo but I reckon that this fox is quite a big one.
bodger

The fox trap had gone off this morning but I think it was down to the high wind that we had last night.
