Took terriers to a new racoon permission

We got 36!!

Ok...so maybe we were going for coon and that's not coon, but here's the thing....

When she told me 8-10" of snow, I thought she was exagerrating....turns out....um.....not so much. I collared Caesar up and we set off for the creek bank. Not only were we tromping through 10" of wet snow, it was uneven ground with some good sized rocks here and there. We trudged along. With all of the moisture, the creek was really up and there was nowhere for us to cross to the other side which was a bit flatter. So,we walked the bank which was around 20 feet high in places. The thing with the snow is that it really clung to the trees and fences......and underbrush and fallen trees! So...we couldn't see where the edge of the bank was! I lost one foot up to my hip once trying to look over. It's going to get nice the next several days, so I think I'm going to go out in a couple and try it again when we can see something and I don't have to worry about my dog falling through the snow into the creek that I can't reach to pull him out! Caesar worked well, though, and got a good run in. So, I got back to the truck and put him up. Coral needed to at least get a run in, so I collared her, just in case, and out we headed in the other direction along the creek. My fat arse stayed to the road where the snow was shallower! Decided to check the haystack just to see if something might be there. We were not disappointed, though it wasn't what I'd really hoped for. No matter....Coral certainly had fun if her tail was any indication, and I enjoyed it. It was fun to watch her use her nose and then see by her body language when she'd found something. I'd start kicking the straw or hay away (whichever part of the stack we happened to be in) and watch them scatter and her pounce. A few crunches to be sure they were dead and she'd leave them and go searching for the next one.

It was a GORGEOUS day and reminded me of why I truly love it here......even if I ended up with a sunburn today!!!

More pictures of Coral workin' it....

Well, I DID help!! LOL!!! She'd tell me there was one in the straw and I'd kick it out of hiding so she could get it!!!
