I once spent a very pleasant evening at a shoot supper, this was around 15 years ago and the chap sitting opposite us was the only licensed salmon netter on the River Conwy. He explained that the licence had been passed on down to him generation on generation and even then, he said that it was merely a matter of keeping up his family tradition. The numbers of salmon he was catching per season, hardly made it worthwhile.
