The white whale

We are in the middle of the annual humpback whale migration.

Whales travel up the east and west coasts from Antarctica to the warm tropical waters of Queensland and NW WA to breed and give birth.

They come back with their calves in a couple of months time.

Since whaling was stopped here in the 1970's numbers of humpbacks has increased dramatically, thousands now make the annual migration.

This is "migaloo" the only known albino humpback, he was spotted off the mid north coast today and is expected off my part of the coast sometime tomorrow.
