The Smallholders Show.

I still think that its overpriced but it will soon be time for this again.

We gave it a miss last year but will take the oportunity this year of meeting friends both old and new.

Yep, pricey to get in, but we are going

How can it be a smallholding show and "encourage" you not to bring your dog

Simple: to many public punters seeing the romantic side of the smallholding lifestyle bringing un-disiplined, unruly and not stock broken mutts.

county shows cope and they are huge.  Just seems odd to have that sort of a show and say no dogs its like legoland saying no kids.

Its annoying, but luckily this year dad will dog-sit.  Not sure yet what day to go as the poultry show is on saturday & the auction is Sunday. Though Ive heard that they sell birds on the Saturday too?
bodger

Be careful. I've seen some of the poorest, sickest looking birds ever being sold and  for some of the highest prices at this show. I don't mean the auction by the way.
A few years ago, there was uproar because of the condition of the birds being offered by some of the vendors.
emsley

Quite agree, Bodger - we were very sad to see some of the poor birds last year   - auction seemed ok, though

Yep I would not think of buying at the auction or the show, prices are silly.

Must be very different at southern and welsh county shows.

All the northern county shows I have ever been to, would never allow dogs except those there for displays with their handlers, oh and guide dogs obviously.
mogs

well, hopefully we will be able to get to the show. all depends on Al's condition, but fingers crossed eh
