The Monkees ?

Did anyone see the Monkees on The One Show the other night? They looked so old a decrepid but were on the programme to plug their forthcoming tour of the UK.
I loved their music and have some of their music in my library to this day. I well remember watching their great kids TV programmes, do you?

I afraid that I wont be buying a ticket to see them, I prefer to think of them as they were. Vibrant young people who at one point were definately rivaling the Beatles. Having seen their interview, the  time for them to hang up their Zimmer frames has long gone:sad: There's no way in the world in a live show would they be able to do their great tracks justice.

Just for the youngsters amongs us, so that you know what us oldies are referring to.

Heh, yes I did - Micky Dolenz looked like he didn't really know why he was there.

It's not something I watch very often - I find it a bit irrelevant and those new presenters - especially the Welsh lassie- a bit self interested, almost as if the programme is a stepping stone to greater things.

Aww, missed it - but it sounds like I didn't miss much.
They didn't actually play/sing though did they? Weren't they dubbed?
bodger

Davey Jones ? More like Darby and Jones.  I only saw a bit of the interview and to be honest, they didn't look up for singing. They said that Mike Nesmith wasn't with them on the night because he was away somewhere being ordained.

WHO?

I can remember my folks always listened to there music

I used to love watching their show and have an album ( yes vinyl (sp)) of theirs in the attic.
Dont you think they've just got on the bandwagon of older artists attempting to regroup and make some more money.
I for one wont be going to see them...like Bodger prefer to remember then as they were......but hey good luck to them!!

How can they come back as the Monkees when Mike N esmith says he will not tour with them
Bazzer

Mickey Dolenz went on to become very successful in the film & TV industry as  think a producer

By my reckoning Lizzie that makes you about 58.

I think I agree with you though, there is something a bit sad about some of these oldies making a comeback at a time when they should be sitting at home in their slippers!!!

Bdooly Cheek  Bodger!!!!!! I am the RIGHT side of 50!! I must have watched the re-runs!! I remember the Monkees being on BBC1 at about 5.15 and my mother thoroughly disapproving but my big sis and i loving every episode. To be honest I still enjoy the songs, Love Lizzie

I think the cicus owner was called "Big Tim Champion " the reason i remember this was because Champion the wonder hortse ,was on T.V. about the same time, what was mickey dolenz called in the show ? Joey ? or  Corky ?
horace

He was called Corky and was adopted on the programme by the clown uncle Joey played by Noah Beery
Bazzer

Davy Jones was a Jockey in his pre Monkeys days. Think he was a Scouser.
