Taking pictures of dark brown eggs

How do you do it? I get some really dark eggs from my Welsummer chickens but can I take a proper picture of them? Can I heck as like. Every picture that I've tried to take has come out much lighter than they are in real life. Whats the knack ?

photographing dark eggs

i find that to get a good picture of dark eggs its usually better to use natural daylight,i make up a mock nest  on top of a barrel or drum, outside in good daylight/sunlight,take lots of pictures from different positions  and hopefully one or two pictures will show the true colour of the eggs

I'll give it a go I'm due another egg any week now.

For a more accurate colour rendition, try to use a smaller aperture and a slower exposure (but remember what the Magistrate told you last time)...

Try flashing, it might give you a better colour
