super glue

does anyone know anything that will remove super glue i was daft enough to use my best scissors to cut the top off a tube ... yes your right they won't open last year I ruined my glasses, will I ever learn
debbie

no idea Grandma Bodger but just to say it happens to everyone - only worse.........my mum was going to a wedding and a pearl came out of her stud pearl earing, so, she glued it back with super glue...being late as usual she put the earing in her ear (peirced or course) whilst holding the peal in place and yes, youv'e got it...super glued her earing to her ear lobe and her finger to the pearl in the earing!   Neither my dad or I could do anything to help we were laughing so much.......needles to say we were really really late for the wedding. One of my favourite childhood memories

Hoep you get your scissors sorted but if you don't keep them and every time you see them just have a laugh thinking of my mum dancing round the kitchen with her finger glued to her ear
MrsWW

You can get a product that in it's most basic form is known as tar and glue remover but whether it would work on set super glue I'm not sure.
Gareth

Acetone (nail varnish remover) and a cotton bud normally does the trick.
kaz

LOL at that memory Debs
Grandma Bodger

will still keep trying not giving up yet, but debbie your mum has beaten me my imagination is going on overdrive
debbie

Honestly Grandma, your imagination couldn't possibly get near the reality...super glue was quite new then and she still had her finger stuck to the pearl and her ear when we got in the car to go to the wedding...I don't think all our laughing was helping the situation really.  honestly some people hav no sense of humour

Hope you get your scissors sorted.
Bazzer

OMG. A real Bazzer moment that Debs.

Sorry but Mums a bit Mutton.
chicken feed

reminds me of my OH getting his fingers stick to one of our sons favorite toys, he shouted its stuck get me a knife the kids both started crying and then screaming when they thought he was going to cut his fingers off, our son said i dont want my toy you can keep it dont cut your fingers off, he was only going to try and prise the toy from his fingers with the knife.

super glue was pretty new then too.

good luck grandma bodger with the scissors.
horace

debbie

liverpool pete

Rare one

Gareth is right, Here you go Grandma B ,   Good luck with the scissors.
Acetone is often found in household nail polish remover, and a small amount on the end of a Q-tip or cotton swab applied directly to the glue should dissolve the bond without damaging the skin. Be very cautious in gently peeling the skin apart as in removing a bandage from the skin; pulling the skin apart may rip the skin! Read the label to make sure that the remover actually contains acetone, as more and more manufacturers are turning away from the chemical because of the growing popularity of acrylic nails (which are loosened by acetone).
Grandma Bodger

thanks everyone the scissors are open having kept them in water since it happened
