once we get to december we'll be boiling up a pigs head to make the traditional Christmas (well it's tradition in our house) brawn for cold cuts.

Oi ....I was first in the queue....  free samples indeed.....you'll be asking for seconds next...Oliver 12bore Twist.....
Border

Generally the biggest is first in the queue, so that leaves you two scrapping for 2nd and 3th place.

Not had Christmas pud, since my dear old gran died. She used to make mountains of brandy butter to accompany it, she would pour copious amounts of brandy over the pudding and then light it, big blue flame, it was delicious, she would also put a sixpence in the pudding offering a prize to who ever found it in the pudding on their plate.

Does anyone put a coin in their Christmas pudding, with a prize for who ever finds it?

Always make brawn here too - but then I make it most weeks.

Will be making our christmas puds, cake and mince meat tomorrow.  I always make them with my friend Paula end of September/begining October but she couldn't get time off work until now this year to visit us from London so we are late.  nothing that exra brandy won't cure though The christmas pud I make is call a boozy pudding and is a lot lighter than the convential pudding I think.  Has a lot of bread crumbs in it.

Sounds lovely Ladyslip.  Are you feeling all christmassy now and ready to put the decorations up?
