Spud problem?

They looked fine until I looked at them a bit closer.

On closer inspection, I could see that there was some leaf curl and droop.

Any ideas?
Rena

Are there any aphids?

The other possibility we have seen over here is a worm that 'nests' in the leaves by 'folding' the leaf over itself and webbing it together~it looks like your second photo.

I believe I used a simple few drops of dishsoap in about a quart of water and sprayed on. If there are 'worms' (they actually kinda look like a caterpillar of sorts), I pick those leaves off and squish to kill the occupant then toss in bin not related to gardening stuffs.

Other than that...no idea

Yes I'd certainly remove those leaves, unfurl them just to check them out and certainly destroy them.
Your third pic shows the problem quite well, looks like some sort of aphid.
Had similar problems with tom's in the G/House in the past, always been eggs laid on the leaves, the critters roll the leaves around the eggs with various secretions.

Will do, I'll take the scissors out to them.

Is that a Tatty hair cut then?

I've cut a lot of greenery off but the problem really is quite extensive. There are raises lumps all over the leaves. Its hard to say whether or not they are some sort of egg because whatever it is, appears to be in the leaf itself. I'll continue to cut the affected leaves off but some of the plants could end up with what effectively would be a Yule Brynner.

Try a forum called Harvest to Table (all one word, usual ww.xxx.com).
It seems to be a flea (or spider mite) problem. They lay their eggs in the leaves, which cause lumps.
RHS is another good source of info.

As  for cures I'm really not sure other than already suggested, best of luck, keep us all informed..

The brains of the family, which as you might guess, isn't me, has done a quick Google and found this.

It ticks the right boxes.
