Sock yarn blanket

I've completed my latest project - a blanket using the left-over scraps from knitting socks.

It was meant to be a surprise for another member of the family but I'm keeping it for myself

Toddy

I really like that  The borders are so effective in pulling it all together.

I thought I was the only one left who knitted squares for blankets

It's a quiet wind down to the day, something that the hands do without me thinking about it…..and the blankets are still the ones that folks want to snuggle up under when it's chilly or they're not feeling well.

Have you seen the Turkish slippers made from knitted squares ?

Each blanket that I do starts with a random size

These squares started as 12 cm (just been to measure a spare one that was left over).
I decided to knit a border for this one and the points curled so I decided to block it - rinse and spin programme in the washing machine and pin it out until it is dry.
I got a bit carried away with the blocking   and the squares now measure 18 cm each and the blanket is double duvet size

Thanks for the link Toddy

Lots

There are 80 squares, then I did a border on each one then crocheted them all together and then knitted the border joining it as I went along - it was one of a few ongoing projects and I miss it now

(I have got a growing collection of larger double knitting squares some of which may be used for a baby blanket rather than waiting for enough for a big blanket....)

Oh wow, love it!
