small eating apples

I have about 30lbs of small eating apples to preserve - any ideas?

Have already made seedless blackberry and apple Jam and enough apple and mint Jelly to last till next lambing.

Apple chutney recipes anyone?  As I said, small eating apples rather than cookers

Dried apple rings? I have a gadget that peels, cores and slices into a spiral and they can then be dropped into a strong lemon solution and dried, i cut my spirals and dry them as rings in my dehydrators if im not usimg them as fruit scrolls whwn i puree them and dry them in sheets.

That's what I do! And we enjoy them all winter long!

Yeah, I got one of them too and I love it ........... I bought a new on for £5.99 with free P&P on ebay about a month ago............... it can easily do over 100 apples an hour if you are organised. If you swing down the spiral cutter plate you can peel spuds, parsnips, turnips, and beetroot with it.

Juice em.

I don't have a dehydrator but love the sound of the fruit scrolls.  Can I dry them in the oven?  As soon as I saw your name came up Pilsbury I thought of them - can you give em a recipe?

I'd also like an apple chutney recipe if possible.  The bramble and apple seedless jam has worked so well I am definitely going to make another half a dozen jars of that too.

aaahhhh = cider?  wonder if I have something that will juice them

You could also make small batches of apple sauce.

Re:cider - find out when Orchards Live are doing an event and take them there for juicing.

the apple sauce would be a great idea but I wonder how I can jar it for it to keep ready as give aways for our christmas markets of which we seem to have 5 huge ones to do this year.  Yes, apple juicing in south molten in the next couple of weeks - may go along there with them - have a feeling there are more apples to come!

What about cooking down to a pulp and freezing it in packs ready for apple puddings and sauces?  Would be economical on freezer space and quick and easy to use when you wanted it

I o.

Recipe for scrolls... Erm
stew fruit a little bit, puree with a hand blender, pour onto non stick sheets, i uses silicon baking sheets but i have heard greaseproof works, dry slowly in a low oven or aga.
We use apple as the base for all our flavours as it gives a good chewy structure and most flavours will work with it.
Add elderberrys to the apples, or pears, or mango, or blackberries, or or or....
Well you get the idea.

Yummmmmmmm.................*note to self....next dehydrator project!*
