Sarcoids

Hi all, Mrs Dave C has a Pony which has a Sarcoid on her belly.
What would you recommend for there removal?

We have researched them and Forest Farmacy against sarcoid keeps coming up, dose anyone have any experience with there products.

Cheers
Dave.

Nasty things - only thing I can suggest is get the vet to do it.

My mare developed a sarcoid under her girth area and only the noxious substance the vet applied over several sessions finally shifted it. Unfortunately it's still left her with a very tender patch because it had got quite big, and it would be right under the girth wouldn't it?

The stuff they use was developed by Derek Knottenbelt of Liverpool Vet School, and I think only vets are licenced to handle it - it sort of melts them. Best get them sorted before they get to be a bigger problem.

Good luck!

I would speak to your vet before you try anything. Havent any experience of sarcoids with my mares, but i know friends that have and they are nasty little buggers. The sarcoids not the friends that is!

Good luck

I have no personal experience of them but you might like to check out the Camrosa website. It mentions the cream being effective against sarcoids. It certainly cleared up a very stubborn heel wound on my mare.  I think the vet would be a wise precaution though. Love lizzie

I agree with seabird - the liverpool cream has a very high success rate but is very specialist and therefore expensive, But I have heard excellent results from it.
BTW Knottenbelt has now focussed his attentions on headshaking - the guy is a genius in my opinion.
good luck

If you ever get the chance to go to one of his talks they are very interesting and highly entertaining.
