Quick dip anyone?

I decided that as it's summer, it was an ideal time to do a bit of trap preparation:

A few Fenns and Imbras get a couple of dips:

I thought I'd do a few Duffus traps as a bit of an experiment:

Here's a close up of one that has just had one coat (I've given them three coats)

I really need a longer fence:

Well worth using IMHO.

It was a better collection, but I'm missing a box of Imbras and old Fenns

There was the funny story about B&Q a few years ago.  They did a deal to stock mole traps in all their stores - including Northern Ireland lol.

I use an American product called 'Speed Dip'.  It's not usually available in the UK, but JohnB from Fourteenacre got me some in.

The Speed Dip comes in 'quart' tins, and you mix it with a gallon of unleaded petrol (they use Coleman Fluid in the US) and dip your traps.  The petrol evaporates, leaving a protective film of dip on the traps that also helps lubricate the traps.

Out of one gallon of SD I dipped 100 Spring traps and 150 Duffus mole traps, so it goes quite a long way.  All my traps have three coats.

ooo what a lot of traps you have there

Wish i could remember where the ones in my garden are - darn person who set them hasn't been to check them and the darn moles are still there
