QU vs 6DSS

I've just had a notice from office of the chief veterinary officer. Apparently from late spring I can choose between setting up a quarantine unit (QU) or six day standstill rule (6DSS) if I keep cattle sheep or goats.

Having just taken in some orphan lambs I guess this means me but the letter might as well be in Welsh for all the sense it makes, in fact if you turn the page it is in welsh, tried reading that but it was no clearer as I only have a vocabulary of about 20 welsh words.

One of you lot must know what it's about. My lambs will stay on the holding & be subject to a home slaughter next year so I cant think it affects me. There is a web address to go to but I'm hoping a plain speaker on here will already have de-cyphered it?

From what I understand if you opt for the QU status and bring on say two goats they would go into the QU and not trigger a standstill on the animals already on site so you can move on into QU and still take off to sell the same day. If you don't go down the QU you will trigger a 6 day standstill as is standard now.

It works like our isolation unit so we can go from show to show and still be able to move animals off that have not been shown.
