Poor Sweet Chestnut harvest in Ripon

Recently visited the Sweet Chestnut trees at Studely Royal (Ripon) and the harvest on several trees was very poor, so poor we took 0 nuts away with us, very disappointed, any one got a good harvest?

That brings back happy memories of when we lived in North Staffordshire. We had some favourite chestnut collecting spots that we always visited. Not much doing here I'm afraid.

Nothing worth picking up here either

The Devon crop is not a patch on last year's nuts - that's the reason for none of my bragging compared with last year.

Rena was intrigued. The picture below was taken on 17th August

Hardly worth picking even though bonfire night is drawing near.
