permits and licenses

heavens above. i cannot believe the prices have gone up sooooo much.

the cost of an NRA license is not too bad, plus i get it cheaper because i have a blue badge, but the clubs around here are charging ridiculous prices to join and there are no concessions either.

last time we joined a fishing club, was 5 years ago, and they put the price up so we refused to rejoin. it went from 50 year to 80 each.
the fishing was terrible, and most of the lakes were not stocked regular. those that were, were crammed with people fishing within 2 hours of them being stocked, then became totally fished out within a week.

i have been looking on diffrent sites around the area, even looking a little further afield, and the cheapest fishing i can find is 95 per year !!!! and that does not include trout fishing ! for trout you have to pay nearly double.

now i know i am a woman, and i know i am blonde, but this does not make sense to me.
round here there is a very high % of people out of work that i am sure would go fishing if the prices were kept lower. or perhaps that is the point. maybe they dont want too many people fishing. perhaps they want to try to keep fishing for the elite......... ..for people with money.

well other than pay for a days fishing on the ressies, at 25day, i think i will stick to sea fishing.

Our local "Council" Lakes are really good value and some damn good fish in them. Why bother with Clubs?
mogs

co we dont have council lakes here................
Bazzer

Fair enough. Can't argue with that.
Wish I could, just to reel you in.

lolol..........

Let's be realistic Nanna, the National Rod Licence thingy is no better than the so called Road Fund Licence. The cash just goes in the pot, not where normal logic would think it went.
Roads and Rivers.
Can let you have a bit of so far unfished water. Free of charge and no overheads other than travel costs.
Sea of Tranquility tickle yer fancy?.
mogs

but i will have some ice please.
Bazzer

Not with some 'orrible blue drink?

Off course I knew it was on the moon. Know it like the back of me 'and.

There's some nice fishing up around your own county Diz, i've some nice summer evenings taking some big bream out of waters around Boyle

Hi Freem,
Got to agree with you on the fishing here. I  have been on the River Lung where it joins Lough  Gara a lot. I prefare trotting a stick float when I can. The Rudd/Bream hybrids are arm aching! But this dry spell we are having has slowed the flow. (That said the rain is running down the window tonight) Which venue you been on?
Mogs, there are two permits for NI. One for the Bann system and the other for every where else. But no Rod licence. With the exchange rate at the moment, Methinks a bargain could be had 'Down South'.
