Pallet Stockade

The pups have ripped up most of the 'lawn' in front of the house, so we built them a pen made from pallets around a big old willow tree stump.

It looks a bit like an old stockade.

Great going looks like our calf pens

While we are chatting about pallets.

Have you seen this very low cost pallet wood stock feeder.

Ask me nicely, and maybe in about a month or so I'll come up with a set of dimensions and possibly a set of plans for anyone who is interested.
debbie

now I would be interested in that one gareth
emsley

Yep, me too
Looks good, Gareth, and I've got lots of pallets
lizzie44

Add me to the list as well Gareth. I need something like that for out in the field for the neds, i have one who throws it on the floor as soon as you put it in the box

That what |I was thinking too Claire - one for the horses and one for the sheep - I don't like putting the metal hay sheep feeder in the field with the horses and its not easy to move

Nobody wants a stockade then?

I must say the feeder looks great

Anything that works and does the job is fine. I'm starting to build myself a car next week.
Rena

I'd like to add my name to that list! My future milker, Belina, needs a good feeder now that we are moved!

Seriously, if I can't build it from pallet timbers no one can

OK, so here is what I will do: Sometime in (late) March I will treat this stock feeder as one of my S-B-S photo reclaimed pallet timber projects, and will include as much information as I can and all of the measurements; but to do this, I will have to build one.

Now here is the snag............ I do not have any livestock and so do not have a use for the stock feeder which means I am going to have one cluttering up the place and I'll  have to give it away to prevent Lois from bashing my ears anymore than she usually has to.

However, I have a job coming up in mid April near to Wainfleet in Lincs, which means I am more or less going to have to pass a fellow OTGers front door (and I am always ready for a cuppa and a sandwich).

I loooovvvve the feeder, it makes me wish I had sheep again

Gareth , it's the car i want to see,
horace

Could take some moving with square wheels
ClaireK

Gareth,

If you make it big enough for horses i am only about 10 miles from Wainfleet and you will nearly pass me on the A52. The kettle is always on and i will run to cake as well as a butty and a cuppa if you want to drop your prototype off! The nags will road test it for you and i can then give everyone any pointers.

I'll have to think about that one.

But I can tell you, that my friend, Keith (from the Norwich beekeepers Assoc) and I have been making 2 National Bee hives from pallet timbers this week....... I'll post the full set of photos when we have finished this project.
