What a wonderful list :-)
I would love to keep reptiles, tortoises and spiders but haven't got around to it yet :-? Do your tortoises roam outside or do they have to be penned?

hi,kaz no they have enclosures/pens mainly just wooden sides high enough to restrict the tort but low enough to step over they are all mostly babies around 2 yrs old.later they will have bigger pens, with a heated shed most are non-hibernating so have to have heated winter quarters.also the different species have to be kept seperate as they have different requirements something a lot of zoos etc fail to do.our leopard tort was adopted from the tortoise trust it was one of over a hundred that were seized as an illegal shipment destined for the pet trade.

There's an arguement going on in our house now - daughter lost her pet hamster last month and has decided that she would now like a tortoise or a snake instead.
I would love a tortoise but think that the dogs would be too interested in it so I have said NO!

Lovelly collection there.

:-) we used to have a tortoise when I lived at home, we also had a fawn great, Nira. Unfortunately Nira seemed to think the toroise was a mobile bone and she would dig a hole, pick up the tortoise and bury him then sit with her head on one side and watch as the tortoise dug his way out. Poor thing, we had to rehome him in the end as we just couldn't get the dog to leave him alone.

so would some of ours,we just have enclosures and a dividing fence seperating front/rear gardens.dont really do snakes had a royal python that was tame, but a corn snake i had was evil.i had to sell them when our autistic boy used to dive at the glass doors when he stropped out, once i sold the snakes he done the same to the fish tank so that went as well.luckily hes grew out of that phase now.
