On the Shannon

Hi All
Took the day off on Monday to go fishing. I had intended to break the ice on my local Lough to see if any Pike were hungry. But got lured on to the River Shannon at Drumsna. Lovely part of the world. But, the sun was out, the River was low and the temp was lower. Not a bite all day, but good to get out.

Looks like a very nice day, too bad the fish weren't cooperating.  What were you targeting?

I was seeing if the Roach were interested in moving from the Loughs to have a nosey at the breeding ground. But, the water is still cold. The Roach will reach an average of half a kilo reaching a Kilo as a top weight. This venue will regulary get an angler 30 to 50 kilo nets from the end of March to around May. We also get Roach/Bream hybrids to 2 kilo. They fight like the devil especialy on light gear. Bream can reach 4 kilo. As the flow is quite strong, its arm aching stuff when you get into a shoal. But the iceing on the crown is the Pike. An ok one is 9/10 kilo. They come a lot bigger though
